{"id":7790,"date":"2016-02-24T17:35:29","date_gmt":"2016-02-24T16:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/windeurope.org\/workshops\/?page_id=7790"},"modified":"2016-11-23T11:48:12","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T10:48:12","slug":"topics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/windeurope.org\/workshops\/wind-turbine-sound-2016\/topics\/","title":{"rendered":"Topics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The call for abstracts closed on Sunday 22 May 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note to students:<\/strong> to facilitate participation, WindEurope will support travel and accommodation expenses (within limits) if the selected oral presentation is by a full-time student (e.g. PhD or similar).<\/p>\n<h2>General Abstracts requirements &#8211; for all topics<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Innovative content:<\/strong> abstracts should contain new work, not yet published<\/li>\n<li><strong>No commercial content please:<\/strong> overtly commercial abstracts will receive low ratings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contribution to industry knowledge:<\/strong> abstracts should strive to present data or results that can contribute to bringing the industry forward<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>correct topic must be selected<\/strong> to ensure correct scoring. The content of the abstract must be topic-related. It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure that abstracts are submitted under the correct topic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Abstract format: plain text<\/strong> (no tables, graphs, charts or images)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>General threads<\/h2>\n<p>The Wind Turbine Sound 2016 workshop had common threads running through the different sessions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Amplitude modulation<\/strong> (AM\/OAM)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Low-frequency sounds<\/strong> (LFS)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sound levels<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tones<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Topics<\/h2>\n<p>Abstracts connected to the following topics and relating to the above-mentionned general threads will be preferred:<\/p>\n<h3>Topic 1: Human perception of noise<\/h3>\n<h3>Topic 2: National guidelines<\/h3>\n<p>Abstracts relating to the above-mentioned general threads and the following issues will be preferred:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Existing national and regional policies and regulations for wind turbine noise<\/li>\n<li>Potential revisions to explicitly address unique characteristics of wind turbine sounds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Topic 3: Real-world noise measurements<\/h3>\n<p>Abstracts relating to the above-mentionned general threads and the following issues will be preferred:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality and consistency of different methods for assessing the noise in the surroundings<\/li>\n<li>Measurements of sound power levels combined with predictions for single wind turbines<\/li>\n<li>Farfield measurements on entire wind farms<\/li>\n<li>Assessing tonality, impulsivity, AM and other subjective\/objective parameters<\/li>\n<li>Permanent noise monitoring stations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Topic 4: Wind farm design, siting and operations<\/h3>\n<p>Abstracts relating to the above-mentionned general threads and the following issues will be preferred:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Impact of noise constraints on the design of onshore wind farms<\/li>\n<li>Good practices around noise propagation simulation methods<\/li>\n<li>How site specific noise constrains have been considered by siting as well as farm\/turbine operation aspects.<\/li>\n<li>Examples of actual or virtual wind farm developments<\/li>\n<li>Micro-sites Modelling of the impact of such measures on wind farm performance and operations<\/li>\n<li>Real-world case studies \u2013 optimisation of noise curtailment through active control<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Topic 5: Wind turbine design<\/h3>\n<p>Abstracts relating to the above-mentioned general threads and the following issues will be preferred:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wind turbine noise manipulation techniques<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The call for abstracts closed on Sunday 22 May 2016.
