Enel X\u2019s mission is to develop new products and services and then test them with potential customers. Mr Amoroso was appointed Head of Innovation and Sustainability at Enel Green Power in 2015 and managed all Enel\u2019s innovative renewables activities on a global level.<\/p><p>He managed a portfolio of over 70 projects worldwide. These spanned, amongst others, battery storage (on-grid, off-grid), innovative solar energy (including photovoltaic production), innovative wind energy, marine energy and innovative retail.  Mr Amoroso joined Enel as Head of the Enel Green Power Solar Joint Ventures department. In 2013, he spearheaded Enel Green Power\u2019s move into South Africa, winning tenders for over 500 MW of installed solar and wind generation capacity.<\/p><p> This made Enel Green Power the leading player in the renewable energies sector in the developing African market.\r\nHe previously worked with McKinsey management consultants but has focused on the energy sector since 2010. He also worked in the aeronautical sector as he has a great love of flying. Mr Amoroso was born in Milan and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rome\u2019s Universit\u00e0 La Sapienza as well as an MBA from the Anderson School, University of California, Los Angeles.
