Test results and data should substantiate any claims. Branding should be limited to the strict minimum. Presenters should be ready to answer detailled questions.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n\r\n<h4>I would like to present on a non-technical topic (finance, markets, policy), should I submit an abstract?<\/h4>\r\n\t<ul><li>No, but you can contact the conference secretariat and let us know about what you could cover.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n\r\n<h4>Can I apply just for a poster presentation?<\/h4>\r\n<ul><li>Yes. You can indicate your preference for a poster presentation in the abstract submission form.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"session requirements\">\r\n<h3>Essential requirements<\/h3>\r\n<p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Abstracts should contain new work, not yet published or presented elsewhere.\r\n<li>No sales pitches! Abstracts should not contain overtly promotional or commercial content, but rather strive to present data or results that can contribute to bringing the industry forward.\r\n<p class=\"alert alert-info\">WindEurope reserves the right to refuse\/reject overly commercial abstracts.<\/p><\/li>\r\n<li>Submitted under the correct topic and subtopic.<\/li> \r\n<li>Abstracts must respect the word limits:<\/li> \r\n<ul><li>Total length: maximum 750 words<\/li><\/ul>\r\n<li>Abstract format: \r\n<ul><li>Plain text format (no tables, graphs, charts or images) via the online form.<\/li> \r\n<li>Submitted abstracts should be divided in 5 sections: \r\n<ul><li>1.\tGeneral summary (max 250 words)<br>\r\n<em>Briefly describe the work to be discussed in your presentation or poster. This part of your abstract will appear on the conference website if accepted.<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li>2.\tMethod (max 125 words) <br>\r\n<em>Briefly describe the method you used.<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li>3.\tResults (max 125 words) <br>\r\n<em>Give a concise summary of the findings\/results.<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li>4.\tConclusions (max 125 words) <br>\r\n<em>Outline the significant implications that your paper has for the industry.<\/em><\/li>\r\n<li>5.\tLearning Objectives (max 125 words) <br>\r\n<em>If this abstract is presented at the conference, what will delegates learn? Focus on what your abstract will enable them to do in their own jobs.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li>  \r\n<li>Abbreviations should be defined on first use.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"session grading\">\r\n<h3>Grading criteria<\/h3>\r\n<p>Reviewers will score each abstract assigned to them by giving it:\r\n<ul><li>numerical grades to assess the abstract with regards to 4 criteria;<\/li>\r\n<li>a recommendation, which will serve as a guide for the programme committee.<\/li><\/ul><p>\r\n\r\n<h4>Numerical grading<\/h4>\r\n<p>Abstracts will be evaluated against the following criteria:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Innovative content<\/strong><br>\r\nDoes the abstract present truly innovative ideas and creative solutions to new or known challenges within the industry? Submissions showcasing cutting-edge ideas and approaches will be favoured.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Contribution to industry knowledge<\/strong><br>\r\nAbstracts should help the conference contribute to the progression of the industry as a whole. Particular emphasis will be given to abstracts that provide useful outputs and practical advice &amp; tools for the audience in their daily work. Overtly commercial abstracts will receive lower grades or will be rejected.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Relevance to the topic<\/strong><br>\r\nAbstracts whose content fits well with the topic and would fit well within the resulting sessions will be favoured.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Quality of presentation<\/strong><br>\r\nAbstracts should be logical, well-structured and easy to understand. Abstracts should present complete information. Where important results are missing, when the tone of the paper is obviously commercial or when more time is required to gather information, abstracts will receive lower scores.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>For each criterion, the abstract will be marked from 0 \u2013 5, giving a maximum score of 20. Each abstract is reviewed by a number of different reviewers, and the average score out of 20 is calculated.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The 0 to 5 scale for each criterion is:<br>\r\n0 = criterion is not met<br>\r\n1 = very poor, little or no accomplishment of the criterion<br>\r\n2 = poor, criterion is only achieved on a superficial level<br>\r\n3 = acceptable, abstract has fulfilled the criterion but is not remarkable<br>\r\n4 = good, abstract performs strongly as regards this criterion<br>\r\n5 = excellent, abstract is exemplary as regards this criterion<br>\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4>Recommendations made by abstract reviewers<\/h4>\r\n<p>Each reviewer will make a recommendation, intended as a guide for the programme committee. The options available to reviewers are:\r\n<ul><li>I strongly recommend that this abstract is selected for oral presentation<\/li>\r\n<li>This abstract is more suitable for oral presentation than poster presentation<\/li>\r\n<li>This abstract is more suitable for poster presentation than oral presentation<\/li>\r\n<li>I strongly recommend that this abstract is selected for poster presentation<\/li>\r\n<li>This abstract should be rejected (reason required in comments field)<\/li><\/ul><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Reviewers will be able to explain their grades and recommendations by leaving a comment in the appropriate field. Comments will be available to authors upon request.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"session selection\">\r\n<h3>Selection procedure<\/h3>\r\n<p>After the review is completed, the programme committee members receive the overview of all scored abstracts. Based on the scores, the reviewers\u2019 comments and planned session topics, the programme committee will draft session proposals and select abstracts for oral or poster presentations. It should engage the reader, making it clear what your idea is about and why it would make an excellent oral presentation or poster.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Keep the following in mind to ensure that your abstract has a good chance of being accepted.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul><li>Do not leave preparation of your abstract to the last minute.\r\n<ul><li>There is no problem submitting right before the deadline (we get 90% of abstracts in the final 48 hours!), but give yourself enough time to think about how to best present your work.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>\r\n<li>Keep the abstract requirements and scoring process (above) in mind so you understand the criteria your abstract will be marked on. <\/li>\r\n<li>Ensure that your ideas are well thought out and follow a logical, coherent flow: \r\n<ul>\r\n<li>State the issue to be discussed;<\/li>\r\n<li>Give a brief background to the issue;<\/li>\r\n<li>Give a brief description of what you are doing to address it;<\/li>\r\n<li>Implications\/outcomes: why is what you have done of value to other specialists?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul> <\/li>\r\n<li>Ensure that the abstract relates to the chosen topic and challenge in a direct way.<\/li>\r\n\r\n<li>Ensure your abstract will contribute to the conference:\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Highlight why your work is innovative: what new ideas\/research will you bring to the people who are listening to you?<\/li>\r\n<li>How is your work relevant to delegates?
