DESCRIPTION:The offshore wind industry faces several challenges on the jour
ney to decarbonisation\, primarily arising from a lack of guidance or stan
dards\, and unclear actions or prioritisation. Recent developments have be
en made to incorporate more sustainable objectives\, such as the inclusion
of sustainability criteria\, in particular conducting carbon footprint as
sessments\, in the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA). However\, without consist
ent guidance\, efforts could become fragmented\, leading to misinterpretat
ion and slow progress. The NZIA outlines the need to harmonise the methods
for assessing life cycle carbon footprints\; the SUSJIP methodology provi
des a solution to do this. To increase the transparency of supply chain em
issions\, the Sustainability JIP has collaboratively developed a consisten
t approach to account for carbon impacts https://www.carbontrust.com/our-w
 ork-and-impact/guides-reports-and-tools/standardising-offshore-wind-carbon
-footprinting). During this session\, delegates will gain an insight into
the role of lifecycle carbon footprint assessments in the OSW industry\, i
ncluding their use cases and the importance of a harmonised calculation me
thodology. The session will also explore the considerations needed when co
nsidering how and when to incorporate carbon footprint calculations into a
uction design. \n\nSee the latest information and speakers details for thi
