Vietnam’s increase of the Feed-in-Tariff in September 2018 has created renewed momentum for the country’s wind market and attracted a rush of development projects, and the country is seen as the leading near-term prospect for wind growth in SE Asia. There is already 228 MW of installed onshore wind capacity in the country, and the Vietnamese government has set a target for wind development at 800 MW by 2020, 2,000 MW by 2025 and at 6,000 MW by 2030. However, there are still a number of regulatory challenges to be addressed in order for project developers to be able create PPAs that are bankable from the point of view of international project finance.<\/p>\r\n

This workshop – organised by Global Wind Energy Council – is targeted at companies that have an interest in learning more about opportunities and developments in the wind industry in Vietnam, and challenges they may face when setting up their business. Attendees will hear about the outlook for renewable energy in Vietnam, updates on the latest policy, market and regulatory environment, as well as some case studies from companies already established in the market, who will outline some lessons learnt based on their experience of setting up business.<\/p>\r\n
