Originally used by  Toyota in the automotive sector, &ldquo;lean principles&rdquo; are applied to offshore wind  for the first time with the LEANWIND project. They include: identifying what  the customer needs; track, reduce or eliminate wasteful stages in and between  processes; seek continuous improvement and approach improvements from a whole  system perspective.<\/p>\r\n<p>LEANWIND gathers a consortium of  31 partners representing both key industrial and academic players of the  offshore wind sector.
