With today’s energy industry rapidly changing, the need for energy companies to innovate is critical. Today, 80 GW of wind energy projects are stuck in a permitting process across Europe. The permitting process is highly manual and involves coordination with many permitting authorities at local, regional and national level – however, there is a lot of opportunity to leverage digital technology to streamline and accelerate this process. AWS is proud to have collaborated on Easy Permits<\/strong>, a cloud-based digital permitting solution that can help public administration and local communities to embrace and speed up the whole permitting process. Leveraging Amazon’s distinctive “Working Backwards” innovation mechanism, AWS, WindEurope and Accenture were able to quickly move from idea to solution in 12 weeks. Currently this solution is now live in two pilot municipalities in Denmark, with plans to scale this solution to other European Member States.
